Cycling is a great low impact way to get fit. However, as with running, it can be the cause of muscle imbalances and injuries.

We are prepared to splash out on the cost of a flash bike but often neglect ourselves. At Sprint, we believe the answer is more than just good 'bike fit'. It is just as important to use our bodies well to achieve a good position on the bike and to use the correct technique to avoid injury and improve performance.

At Sprint we can assess your bike set-up and your cycling posture using your own bike on our turbo trainer, as well as using video analysis. Whether you are already experiencing aches and pains from cycling, would like to prevent injury and improve your cycling performance, or are training for a big race or event, we can help with a detailed assessment and diagnosis, along with a full treatment and training plan.


Assessment:


When you attend the Cycle Clinic you'll receive a relevant musculo-skeletal assessment and, using the Turbo trainer, assessment of your position and posture as you cycle to see if you are loading any areas incorrectly.

For example; we often find that many cyclists are:

  • putting too much weight through their upper limbs and straining their shoulders or neck, particularly if their middle back is too stiff and they have poor endurance and control of their shoulder blades.
  • twisting through the pelvis as they turn the pedals and this could result in low back or leg pain.
  • twisting a knee outwards causing strain to their kneecaps (patello-femoral joint), patella tendon or ITB band on the outside of the leg. Most of us have spotted cyclists doing this, but are you doing this yourself without realizing it?

Suitable for:

  • Commuters - trying to beat London congestion or just fit some more exercise in to your day.
  • Sport Cyclists - members of cycling clubs or those training for or competing in sprint/distance events or triathlons.
  • Recreational cyclists who enjoy cycling for fitness -or just pottering from A to B!
  • Mountain bikers

You'll need to bring your own bike with you as well as the shoes you normally wear and appropriate cycle/sports clothing.
